Mike Dillard, Paul Harris Fellow

Mike remembers when his family would come and stay at their cabin at Elk Lake when he was a boy. He also remembers that his grandfather would get dressed up one day each week during their stay in order to make up at the Rotary Club of Bend.

Mike's late father, Lou Dillard, was a Rotarian for many, many years and was a much beloved and much respected member of the Rotary Club of Bend. Lou was a Paul Harris Fellow back in the days when the contribution was much more substantial based on the value of the dollar in those days.

For his birthday, Mike's Mom wanted to finish out Mike's Paul Harris Fellowship and have it presented at the club. Both Mom and Mike's wife, Julie, were on hand for the ceremony.

In a moment that brought a tear to more than one Rotarian eye, Past President Bill Ruiter stood and declared that he was donating $10 to the Rotary Foundation in the name of Mike and Julie's son, so a 4th generation of the Dillard family could begin supporting TRF.
